1. Why did you choose IE University?
Actually, this is my second degree. I felt very lost when I studied at my previous university. I chose IE University because the first time I visited the campus, I had a strong feeling that I could see my future clearly here. I found myself here. I now know what I want to do and what I want to be in the future.
2. Have you learned any Spanish? Do you have any interesting stories about communicating with local people?
IE University offers free Spanish classes and I reached level B2 after my first year here. Every time I go to the university cafeteria, I like to talk with the staff there. They’re friendly and really like to chat with you to help you practice speaking in Spanish. They are warm-hearted and, like the language teachers, help teach you correct pronunciation.
3. What didn’t you expect but liked when you got to IE University?
I’ve been most surprised by the personal development I’ve experienced. There are tons of opportunities for growth at IE University. There are over 120 clubs to join and over 1,000 events organized by students every year. That’s incredible. If you have a business idea, no matter what the idea, IE University’s Start-Up Lab and Venture Lab help you turn your idea into a reality.
4. How does IE University incorporate innovation and technology? And how do you feel it will affect you professionally?
IE University encourages us to open our minds and think outside the box. That is very different to my experience in China. On a personal level, it has helped me stop being shy. Now I feel capable of giving presentations in front of large and small groups of people. My team and I won first prize in the Agora program last year. And most importantly, I have found what I really want to do in the future.
5. What is your favorite subject, who is your favorite professor, and why?
My favorite professor is named Brendan Anglin. He is much more than a professor to me, he has become a true friend. He has given me a lot of advice on career development and has really inspired me.
6. Do you plan on completing an internship or an exchange next year?
I will do an exchange next year. IE University has over 160 partner universities worldwide and offers more than 800 spots for students who are interested in exchange. I would like to experience new cultures and gain new perspectives.
7. Is there any advice you would like to give to Chinese students who are thinking of studying at IE University?
Think ahead, work hard, and play hard. At IE University the international environment and cultural diversity you will experience is unmatched. Here, your future is clear.
