What does the admissions process involve?
IE University’s admissions process is designed to identify the unique qualities of your academic and personal profile, ensuring that these align with our education model and our values.
The key stages include:
- An online application
- IE University admissions test
- A Kira assessment
- A personal interview
At the end of the process, you’ll receive a final decision from our admissions committee
What do the tests involve?
IE University’s admissions test measures your ability to answer questions about logical, verbal and numerical reasoning in English. It’s an online test and usually takes between 70 and 90 minutes. You can take this test at any time. Depending on the program you choose, you may have to take another test such as the GAT, or submit your scores from other exams such as the GMAT.
The Kira assessment evaluates your critical-thinking skills and real-time responses. You’ll answer three questions in real time on a virtual platform. It takes about twenty minutes to complete.
How can I prepare for the interview?
The best way to prepare is to focus on what motivates you and drives your passion. Think about how this connects with IE University’s values of diversity, entrepreneurship, the humanities and innovation.
What are the admissions deadlines?
IE University operates a rolling admissions policy, so we don’t have specific deadlines for our programs. However, places are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage early application due to high demand and the time required for recognition of studies and visa applications.

Which financial aid options are available for candidates in Ecuador?
About 25% of our students benefit from some kind of scholarship, depending on the program and the pool of applicants. You must be admitted to a program before you can apply for financial aid. However, it’s also important to know that several banks in Ecuador offer student credit as an option for undergraduate and master’s programs.

As a citizen of Ecuador, what do I need in order to study in Spain?
We know that the process of obtaining a visa can be overwhelming. That’s why staff at both our office in Madrid and our local office in Ecuador are here to help you every step of the way.
You must be enrolled in a full-time program before you can start the visa process.
You will need to fulfill all the requirements of the Spanish Consulate assigned to the city where you live. As well as filling in an application form, you’ll need to provide proof of your financial situation, or evidence from the person who will sponsor your studies. This document must be notarized. You must also have health insurance covering the time you’ll be studying in Spain. IE University works with several insurance companies to help you with this.
You’ll also need a criminal record certificate and a medical certificate. The criminal record certificate must cover all the countries in which you’ve lived in the past five years, and must be legalized. In Ecuador, you can get the Certificado de Antecedentes Penales from the Ministry of the Interior website. You’ll need to show two originals, which need to be legalized with the apostille at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility.
You can get the medical certificate at your local public health center. Again, you’ll need two certificates and they will need to be legalized with the apostille.
If you have dual nationality, especially if one is an EU country, you may be exempt from the student visa requirements. If you have two non-EU nationalities, you can use either for the visa application, depending on your personal circumstances.
How can I find somewhere to live when studying in Spain?
We strongly suggest using our recommended provider, Beyond Campus, who will help you find IE University’s approved flats and residences in Madrid and Segovia. Our Ecuador office can also help you connect with fellow students from Ecuador, Latin America or any other region.
Once you’ve been admitted as a student, you can also use our Slack channel for newly enrolled students. This is another good option to find suitable accommodation.
Here for you every step of the way.
