It’s no secret that we are now more connected than we have ever been. The globalized world we live in needs professionals who are ready to navigate the ins and outs of cross-border relations and communication between collectives from all around the world.
When you choose International Relations at IEU, you’re signing up for a quality education enriched by a truly global environment. But there’s so much more to the International Relations experience than our academic excellence and diversity. We offer students endless opportunities to put theory into practice while they study.
Our students have access to exclusive networking events, internships at top institutions, fascinating seminars and lectures from important political figures. The Bachelor in International Relations gives you more than just a degree—it provides important tools to succeed, inspirational role models and a well-developed network to help you along the way.
There are many perks of being a Bachelor in International Relations student at IEU, and we’ve made a list of some of the highlights to give you an idea of the BIR student experience.
Lectures from top influencers and global leaders
At IEU, we know that your education is not limited to the four walls of the classroom. In order to give our students a real-world perspective when it comes to the most important global issues, we host spectacular conferences and lectures from some of the brightest minds in international affairs.
Here is just a taste of the events BIR students have had access to in the past:
- A talk by British Ambassador Simon Manley regarding the UK’s vision for a more dynamic Europe.
- A European Union simulation, where students got the chance to apply international law, foreign policy and negotiation strategies in a real-world context.
- A visit from Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, the Minister of Health of the Government of Zanzibar (Tanzania), who spoke about the challenges his administration faces when addressing the topic of public health.
- An analysis of the 2016 US election debates featuring keynote speakers Dr. Eliah Bures and Dr. Daniel Kselman—both active researchers in the field of political science.
- Tours of government buildings, such as Spain’s Congress of Deputies and Council of State.
Study international policies in a global environment
We believe that diversity gives us strength. At IEU, we foster an environment that favors intercultural cooperation and communication. You’ll be studying with students from all walks of life who bring unique perspectives and frames of reference to the topics at hand. You won’t be limited to your class, though—we offer many opportunities to engage with the international community outside of IEU through conferences and events like Model UN.
Model UN is an international event with an average attendance of over 1,000 students. This program offers an insightful and realistic simulation of how negotiations between countries unfold. Students take on the roles of world leaders as they work together to make important decisions and construct a course of action.
