Enjoying a unique educational experience in Segovia

Cristina Acevedo, or Cris to her friends, enjoyed an idyllic childhood in Spain and abroad. After a few years in London, she wanted to be closer to her family and friends and decided to move back to Spain. Cristina couldn’t be happier: the move allowed her to live and study in Segovia for the first two years of her program. As she prepares to move to Madrid to continue her degree, Cristina shares her experience at IE University so far.

Why did you choose to study the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Design at IE University?

When it came to choosing a university, I always knew I wanted to join an international institution, different from the Spanish system and with great prestige. IE University was the best option for me as it offered a unique atmosphere and proximity to my family and friends.

Another important factor when making my decision was the programs offered. In my case, I decided to embark on a creative career with the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Design. They are two completely different worlds but complement each other in a wonderful way.

The program allows you to develop your creative abilities and helps you create and shape ideas. You learn not only fundamental concepts that will serve you throughout your life in the business world but also how to design and take your business skills into a different, more artistic environment.

Even though Segovia is a small town, it has a lot to offer. There’s something to do every day, either with the club you’ve joined or in the different talks that are regularly organized around campus.

Describe your experience at IE University in Segovia so far.

Students plan a lot of events too. Personally, I love showing the pictures we take in the IE University Photography Club, where I’ve made a lot of friends.

In my free time, I enjoy a lot of activities: having a laugh in boxing class with my friends from university, going for a night out at the Irish pubs or Baco, having a drink in the plaza, the beautiful views from the hills, running under the Alcazar… As second-year students, we will miss our life here in Segovia very much.

How has IE University enriched your personal and professional experience?

When my friends ask me about my university, an aspect I always emphasize is the thousands of possibilities that IE University offers you to develop your professional career. They are always willing to put you in contact with the right people, help you develop your resume and prepare you for your professional career.

Recently, I’ve been working for SIT Spain as an intern and it has been the greatest opportunity of my life. I’ve learned so much and it has been a very enlightening experience.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m not sure what I will end up doing, specifically. I just know that I’m deeply in love with what I’m studying at the moment and will hopefully be able to enjoy a career related to it in the near future.

Nevertheless, what I aspire to most is to fulfill my dream of creating a beautiful family, being happy and achieving all my professional goals, leading me to have a very successful career.
