Asier is a Class of 2016 BBA graduate with a deep-rooted passion for entrepreneurship.

He has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and he has recently moved to Paris to work for Main Tool. He is currently working on a big marketing campaign for the company as they prepare to go live at Indiegogo. Check out this great initiative by one of our young entrepreneurs!

Can you introduce yourself?

I am Asier Sarasua, the Chief Marketing Officer at MainTool, the first start-up to make classic watches smart. I have been active on the Spanish technology scene for years. I have led successful marketing campaigns at both startups and established companies, including Repsol and Karmacracy. I co-founded my first company, Kibber, an innovation consulting start-up with young professionals, when I was 18. Since then, I have been involved in several entrepreneurial projects, such as Qinti On The Move, Ibil…

Can you describe your project?

MainTool allows you to upgrade your classic watch with Classi, a smart leather strap that gives your watch smart features. Classi integrates the best of wearable technology into a classic leather watch strap. With Classi, you can track your activity, receive notifications via vibration, navigate to your destination handsfree, and send for help with the push of a button. Classi also has a phone loss prevention feature and will vibrate if you’ve forgotten your phone.

Young Entrepreneurs

Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur?

I decided to become an entrepreneur because I wanted to see a change in society, and unfortunately most big companies are not disruptive enough to create big changes. That’s why I decided to become an entrepreneur and challenge the status quo, because for me, nothing is impossible. That’s how I ended up battling big tech companies (Samsung, Apple…) and big watch brands (Rolex, Tissot, Fossil…) at MainTool with a hardware company.

Asier and the rest of the team have launched a special offer for the IE Community, spread the word!

Could you give an advice to future entrepreneurs?

My advice is to seek new challenges every day. That is the only way to step outside your comfort zone and obtain the right mindset to create innovation. In addition, entrepreneurs find many barriers along the way, such as people who don’t like your idea, or having difficulties getting investors on board, and so on. My advice is to fight for what you believe in and never give up.
