IEU’s Bachelor in PLE is a unique and innovative program that stands out on the world stage.

IE University’s Bachelor in Politics, Philosophy, Law and Economics (PPLE) is inspired by PPE (philosophy, politics and economics) studies. This field of study dates back to the 1920s, where it was first offered at the University of Oxford. At the time, PPE represented a modern take on classical studies. This holistic, multidisciplinary approach was widely successful, and the world’s best universities quickly followed suit.

Since then, these programs have been used to develop the next generation of leaders, preparing them to shape societies and organizations all around the world. Although you would expect a degree with such a dynamic approach to current issues to be more popular, multidisciplinary degrees in general are becoming more prevalent. In Spain, for example, there has been an increase in the demand of dual degrees at public universities.

Today’s students wish to prepare themselves to face the highly competitive conditions of the current job market. Multidisciplinary degree programs give students a leg-up as they venture out into the working world. In the years to come, there is little doubt that we will continue to see considerable demand for this type of programs.

IEU’s Bachelor in PPLE is a unique and innovative program that stands out on the world stage. Other prestigious universities take a similarly pioneering approach to the subject material. Singapore Management University became the first school in the country to offer a similar program when they launched it in 2016. Like the IEU program, SMU’s bachelor looks to provide future leaders with a deep understanding of global, political and economic transformations, and the legal frameworks within which they take place.

Graduates of IEU’s PLE program

Graduates of IEU’s PPLE program have many professional options available to them, including (but not limited to) journalism, diplomatic service, foreign affairs, public service, consulting and research. Due to the international prestige and appeal of these programs, top international universities are working to develop similar undergraduate degrees in the years to come. Of course, talent, determination and practical experience are key to obtaining real chances of succeeding in the professional working world. With that being said, PPLE programs can drastically increase your chance of success thanks to its holistic, adaptable approach to the demands of the current global climate.
