What makes this bachelor unique?

The Bachelor in Economics is very unique in the way it blends technology, public policy, and economics—three fields that are essential for students to understand and manage as they take on the “new economy.”

How is this bachelor structured?

In the first three years, we look at a lot of interesting topics in economics, such as foundations, data science, and the new economy, while later on, students can choose to specialize in two different tracks.

The first track is in country and sector analysis while the second focuses on finance and business analysis. So, the idea is for students to specialize in whichever of the two tracks that most suits their interests.

What are the benefits of this bachelor?

Students benefit from a fantastic faculty—a group of practitioners and academics who have first-hand experience with everything that we will look at in class. Our professors combine a solid and theoretical foundation in economics with applied theory.

On top of that, students will have access to an internship as well as the opportunity to go on an exchange at another university.

Who should study the Bachelor in Economics?

A good candidate for the program would be someone that is passionate about economics, but also very interested in technology; someone that is looking to be disruptive and to become a pioneer in their professional environment.

What are the career opportunities after the Bachelor in Economics?

The career opportunities for our graduates will be plentiful due to the competences and skills that students acquire in the program.

The idea is that first of all, they will receive a lot of knowledge in general economics. But through the program’s two tracks, they will also gain a lot of information in whichever field they specialize in.

Of course, they can work as a general economist but they could also work as a consultant in multilateral organizations or as an advisor within a company. They could work in business intelligence or work as brokers and financial advisors. Students could even work in the banking or finance industry. And together with the help of IE University’s game-changing DNA, some of them may even become entrepreneurs and start their own companies.
