Orientation Week 2024: Getting to know IE University in style

IE University's Orientation Week was a blast this year! From scavenger hunts to fun mixers, students quickly got acquainted with campus life and kicked off an unforgettable college experience.

The first day of college has finally arrived. Bright eyes and eager faces filled the room as new students poured into the auditorium for the start of Orientation Week. You could feel the mix of excitement, nerves and anticipation as they prepared to begin their journey at IE University. “We are fully convinced that each of you brings something unique to contribute to your generation,” said Salvador Carmona, Rector of IE University, during his welcome speech. And he’s right. The students who successfully passed the admissions process are part of a diverse and talented group, ready to see their dreams take flight at their new university.

Icebreakers and scavenger hunts: orientation week adventures

Following the opening ceremony, students from various programs gathered for drinks and conversation in the campus lounge. Many of them participated in a scavenger hunt that took them through various locations around campus, where they completed quizzes to get a deeper understanding of how their new school operates. The hunt took place simultaneously on the Segovia and Madrid campuses, leading students to spots like the IE Library in Segovia and the Librarian’s Office in the IE Tower, where they solved clues that taught them about university resources.

After workshops, icebreaker activities and Q&A sessions with fourth-years, the new students attended the Club Fair—the perfect place to explore student-led clubs that match their interests and get involved in campus life.

Events that bring campus to life

Orientation Week was just the beginning. A whirlwind of events across both campuses kept the excitement going, making sure every student felt right at home. In Segovia, the Creativity Center Open Day brought students together for hands-on fun and a chance to explore their new surroundings. Meanwhile, over in Madrid, the Student Government Summer Welcome Mixer was a hit, hosting new students in the campus gardens for fun activities and socializing.

Students also experienced their first Music Day at IE Tower, a weekly jam session where they can let their creative juices flow and maybe even meet future bandmates.

IE Day: Don’t forget to rock your blue!

IE Day is the essence of our school spirit. Everyone’s encouraged to wear blue as they play games, enjoy food and drinks, and meet our mascot, Cammie the Chameleon. This packed day of competitions, live music, great food and even a cheerleading routine gives new students a taste of IE University’s traditions and energy. Plus, games come with plenty of prizes from our sponsors, and a special gift for the winner of the “Best Dressed in Blue” contest!
