Since humankind first set foot on the moon, the space conquest has been on the minds of the world’s superpowers. We have made huge advancements in the exploration of space, but what about colonization? Is Mars next? Which country will get there first? Who will negotiate land treaties on Mars?
Play Mars Conquest and practice the art of negotiation
Mars Conquest was created by the IE School of International Relations to give you a taste of what it’s like to be a negotiator. The main objective of the game is to colonize Mars. To get there, you’ll need power and technology to back you up. Play as Russia, USA, Iran, Brazil, India, Japan, Pakistan, China, or even Europe in the race to conquer Mars.
During the game you will have to decide if and when you share your technology. You can also decide to spy on your competitors and attempt to steal their plans. There is also the possibility of isolating yourself from the UN and taking Mars for yourself. But remember, every action has consequences.
At the end, the game will determine if you are a pacifist (ready to carry out negotiations in a peaceful way), a strategist (ready to undergo complicated and risky negotiations), or a daredevil (ready to achieve success by making daring moves to maximize your gains, without fear of conflict).
Mars Conquest is just the latest example of the IE School of International Relations creating new and innovative ways to discover the world of IR. Technology and education come together to teach students more about negotiation skills, and how power dynamics impact the global political climate.
