Lawmakers who can effortlessly handle communication and relations between organizations, corporations and individuals worldwide has become an essential thread in the fabric of our global world.
The Bachelor of Laws at IE University sets students up for success by teaching them how to navigate private- and public-sector law through a global mindset. The Bachelor in Laws degree is unique to IEU, with its focus on an international outlook and providing the tools and networks needed for success.
Our students form part of a vibrant and diverse community, and have access to numerous learning opportunities throughout their studies. From access to networking events, internships at top law firms and numerous seminars and conferences, our mission is to help students put theory into practice.
The many perks of being a Bachelor in Laws student seem endless, but we’ve put together a list that highlights the most fundamental aspects of our student experience.
Access to the expertise of leading specialists in international law
At IEU, our goal is to ensure that learning takes place both in and outside the classroom. By bringing in world-renowned specialists to host lectures, events and conferences centering on topics relevant to the ever-changing world of law, we take a hands-on approach to education. The access to the expertise of leading lawmakers from around the world we provide is unparalleled.
Here is a selection of the many lectures, events, visits and conferences that our students have recently attended:
- A conference led by Judge Luis López Guerra regarding the current migration and refugee crisis and its modern-day consequences
- A student-organized event with a panel of experts to discuss the role of current technological developments in the future of law
- A visit to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, which included a one-on-one session with former IE law professor and current judge at the General Court, Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo Ibáñez-Martin
Global lawyers of tomorrow
In our Bachelor of Laws program, our priority is to prepare students to practice law in a global setting. By partnering up with programs around the world, IE University allows its students to graduate with strong foundations in leadership, teamwork, business and project management.
Through international, collaborative programs – such as Law Without Walls – students are encouraged to use skills learned in the classroom, outside classroom walls. This formative experience happens alongside other students from around the globe, working to enhance our students’ perspectives and worldviews. Although we are based in Spain, we guarantee we will provide you the resources, networks and opportunities to practice law anywhere in the world after the completion of your studies.
Beyond borders: gaining even more experience in a global setting
Throughout the first three years as a Bachelor of Laws student, our internationally recognized faculty provides a strong foundation in comparative law. During the fourth year, students have the opportunity to study law at any of our partner institutions.
One of the greatest advantages of pursuing a Bachelor of Laws at IEU is our dual degree programs. Our partnerships with the University of Law (UK) and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law (US) allow students to study at either institution, and obtain an additional degree prior to completing the IE degree in Spain. After graduation, students are prepared to tackle most any transnational issue, and represent marketable candidates to any major firm or organization in either the UK or the US.
Even if you choose to obtain only a Bachelor of Laws from IE, our internship and semester exchange opportunities around the globe during the fourth year similarly provide opportunities to network and expand your horizons as a lawyer of the 21st century.
Unlike most degrees, our Bachelor of Laws provides students with the skills needed to stand out in the competitive profession of global law. And with the blend of practical experience opportunities and classroom exposure to global issues, we at IE pride ourselves in producing some of tomorrow’s greatest leaders in global law.
