There’s no doubt that starting university is a thrilling experience for everyone. For many, it’s the starting point of a successful professional future.

There’s no doubt that starting university is a thrilling experience for everyone. For many, it’s the starting point of a successful professional future. To make the best out of this experience, students choose to attend universities far away from home. For this reason, it is essential that institutions welcome their new freshmen class in the most memorable way.

Each year, IE University organizes what is known as Orientation Week. This week is dedicated to freshmen, and it is the perfect opportunity for them to get to know their new studying environment, the institution, the staff, and their classmates.

Orientation Week is divided up into academic activities, which are organized according to each student’s bachelor’s program, and non-academic activities, where all new students come together for fun and exciting activities.

Freshmen are welcomed in on their first day with brand new student IDs and a welcome pack. Soon after, the IEU Clubs Fair takes place, where students are introduced to the various clubs available, enroll in any activity or sports they are interested in, and of course, meet new people. All of this is accompanied by a variety of tasty food, drinks, and laughter.

The week then proceeds with the official Welcome Party, hosted in clubs by upperclassmen both in Madrid and Segovia to welcome and inaugurate the freshmen in the IEU community.

The next day, students attend the Mentorship Program Kick-off, where they finally have the opportunity to meet their mentors, upperclassmen students who dedicate their time and efforts to answer any questions or doubts the freshmen have throughout their academic journey at IEU.

The second half of the week is mostly dedicated to outdoor activities. Freshmen take part in activities like kayaking, paintball, graffiti workshop, city tours, movie nights, and much more.

The third and final part of Orientation Week is the BBQ Freshmen Day, organized by the IEU Student Life, where both campuses are invited to a unique barbeque party with music, drinks, and games. This is the perfect opportunity for freshmen to meet their peers from the other campus and integrate into the community.

Lastly, freshmen attend the Opening Ceremony, a formal event where all students from both campuses come together at the Segovia campus to officially kick-off their first academic year at IE University. And as per usual, there’ll be no shortage of food, drinks, and good company.

IE University has always considered it vitally important to give freshmen a proper welcome. Any student brave enough to leave their country and start this new adventure far away from home deserves to be welcomed in the best possible way. IE University will always fully commit to making each and every student feel like they are at home—not just during Orientation Week, but throughout their entire journey at this institution.

Now it’s time to officially welcome our Class of 2021 and wish them all the best for their journey at IE University. Already looking forward to welcoming more freshmen next year!
