When our students go on to accomplish great things, we can’t help but feel immense pride.

Our students never cease to amaze us here at IE University. When our students go on to accomplish great things, we can’t help but feel immense pride. We sat down with María Ortiz to discuss her internship at Acciona, and how IE University helped get her there. If you would like to read more IEU success stories, check out our blog series.

How did you find out about this job opportunity?

I found this opportunity on a platform called Talentoteca managed by Fundación Universidad–Empresa, an organization that offers graduates paid internships and 7 different online master’s degrees that parallel the internships.

How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruitment process?

The CMC team helped me along the way. For starters, they helped me write my CV and my LinkedIn profile. They gave me feedback on how to do online applications and interviews. In fact, I first discovered Talentoteca thanks to Career Services. It would have been much, much harder to find a job without their valuable guidance!

Tell us about the different stages of the recruitment process.

First, I started the application though Talentoteca, where I had to answer a number of questions and upload my information. Once my profile was complete, I uploaded my CV in Spanish and English, and I started applying for internships. My first choice was a position in the sustainability department at ACCIONA. It’s also important to mention that I had to complete an English evaluation in order to apply for most of the internships. About a month later, I received a call from ACCIONA’s Human Resources team to select a time and date for the interview.   The interviewer asked me questions about my degree, my background, why I thought I was suited for the job, how the department would benefit from having me, and so on. When the interview finished (one hour later) the interviewer told me to wait outside as someone from Human Resources would be by to ask me a few more questions. I was told that I had been selected for the position, and that I would receive a call with the date when I would sign my contact!

Do you have any tips or advice for students interested in applying to ACCIONA?

Apply to ACCIONA! It’s a huge business, with loads of opportunities and different divisions that hire people with diverse educational backgrounds. To begin with, ACCIONA has three core lines of business (infrastructure, renewable energy, and water services) open to a variety of professional profiles. Whether you have studied law, business, environmental sciences, international relations, engineering, or psychology, there is a place for you at ACCIONA!
