Thanks to the guidance of IE Talent & Careers, Ignacio Llopisāa student in his last year of the Dual Degree in Business Administration and International Relationsāis participating in the Amazon Campus Challenge.
Here, Ignacio shares his experience with us as he and his teammates partner with Mallorca Delicatessen to work towards their next big professional opportunity.
What can you tell us about the Amazon Campus Challenge? How would you explain it to someone who hasnāt heard of it before?
For the Amazon Campus Challenge, a team of university students has to partner with a company that has never sold its products on Amazon. Then, the team will have to take care of the companyās digital transformation and online transition to start selling there. Amazon will select five finalists based on the companyās sales revenue and units sold on Amazon during a specified period of time. The winning team will take home ā¬10,000 and the possibility of a job offer from Amazon.
How did you find out about this challenge?
We found out about this challenge through IE Talent & Careers. We investigated it further and thought it was a unique opportunity to strengthen our knowledge of e-commerce by living a one-of-a-kind experience.
How do you feel your experience at IE University helps you perform in this challenge?
The IE University experience has helped our performance in this challenge by allowing us to apply the management skills and power of persuasion techniques weāve learned throughout our undergraduate studies. The teamwork abilities weāve learned at IE University are also essential for success in the Amazon Campus Challenge.
Can you tell us a little bit about the
company and project you chose?
We are collaborating with Mallorca Delicatessen, a family business that sells gourmet gastronomic products that are typical of Mallorca. They have been really helpful whenever weāve needed something. We thought it was an interesting company to work with as they offer high-quality food products that can be enjoyed on important occasions with the best company.
What are the next steps?
The online sales started on February 17th and will end on May 29th, 2020. If our team is among the five finalists, we will have to do a ten-minute presentation of our project in front of a judging panel of important Amazon directors and employees.
Is there anything else youād like to share about this experience?
We strongly recommend university students who are interested in e-commerce, sales, and digital transformation, or who have their own brand, to participate in future editions of the Amazon Campus Challenge. It is undoubtedly a unique and incredible opportunity to learn, strengthen your CV and work on your own project.
