Isabel Perales found unexpected ways to apply her academic background, gaining hands-on experience in strategy, client insights and decision-making while shaping her future in the business world.

If you’re looking for internship opportunities for behavioral science students, real estate may not be the first field that comes to mind. But Bachelor in Behavior & Social Sciences student Isabel Perales discovered the versatility of this program in her internship at real estate firm CBRE.

As part of our Stepping Up series, Isabel shares how her real estate internship provided fresh perspectives and new paths to success in the professional world. By tackling projects and working on client strategies, she had the chance to apply her academic background in behavioral science to real-world business situations.

“I’ve been able to apply all the academic knowledge that I got at IE University directly to my work. It’s also a two-way street, where I learn things at work to apply in my studies. It has made me a better student as well as a better worker,” Isabel shares.

Her time at CBRE didn’t just teach technical skills. It also aided the development of the critical thinking and communication capabilities that are needed in the competitive world of business. The internship empowered Isabel to lead changes toward a better future and take control of her career path.
