About Him

Mateo Mollier

What are your hobbies and interests?

I love reading, mostly for my own pleasure but also for educational purposes. I discovered a taste for languages since starting Arabic here at IE, and I’m trying to learn some Japanese. I am very sociable and I love spending time with people, friends or literally anyone I’ve just met.

Why did you choose IEU?

I chose IEU at first because of its ranking and its international feel, but when I came to visit (and do the placement test), I also liked the general mood of the students outside the building.

What do you want to do after graduation?

For now I don’t have a clear idea, but it would be something in international or corporate law, or marketing from the BBA side.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned from a professor about your future career path?

I did a seminar this semester called “Discover your talent,” and our teacher helped me think more about finding a job; not in any specific field, just one where you feel fulfilled.

How has IEU’s comparative law methodology shaped your perspective on the legal world?

Comparing legal systems really puts into perspective everything I thought I knew about law. I did my first year in the gradual degree, so I took some Spanish law classes. The difference is that when you compare so many different systems, you start to look more at principles and less at specific provisions.

Which opportunities have you taken advantage of during your time at IEU?

I participated in two Moot Court competitions where I got to the final round both times, and I helped a friend with last year’s Agora project (I have presentation skills this semester). I went to some student club activities, seminars, and conferences, but I feel like there is still a lot I’ve not taken part in yet here at IEU.
