What’s It like working at L’Oréal? Just ask Olivia

At IE University, we like to follow up. We always like to ask our more successful students (which we have no shortage of) about their fancy new jobs. Here’s Olivia’s story.

When Olivia Głowacka finished her Bachelor in International Relations, she didn’t just walk away with a diploma—she walked into a dream job working at L’Oréal. And honestly? It’s as dynamic and exciting as you’d imagine. Olivia, a Polish-American entrepreneur from Chicago, now works in global marketing for one of the most iconic beauty brands in the world.

From IE University to L’Oréal New York

Olivia credits much of her success to her time at IE University. “I was always drawn to IE because of its entrepreneurial focus,” she says. That entrepreneurial mindset was also something Olivia grew up with—both her parents run small businesses in Poland, and she spent her summers there soaking in the value of hard work.

During her time here, Olivia dove headfirst into hands-on learning, taking full advantage of internships and real-world projects to build her resume. “What’s amazing about IE is how international it is,” she shares. “I had classmates from all over the world, and that really prepared me for my team at L’Oréal.”

A day in the life at L’Oréal

So, what is it like working at L’Oréal? According to Olivia, no two days are the same. “It’s a really creative environment,” she says. Her role in global marketing requires her to collaborate with stakeholders across different continents, manage campaigns, and keep her finger on the pulse of the latest trends in beauty and fashion.

“The pace is fast, but that’s what I love about it,” she adds. Olivia’s always been someone who thrives on variety—and her job gives her plenty of it. From brainstorming innovative social media campaigns to analyzing how new products will land in international markets, every project keeps her on her toes.

But that’s not all

Oh, and did we mention she also runs two businesses on the side? Olivia has a tooth-whitening venture and organizes the Jersey Creators Market, a festival that spotlights streetwear designers in Jersey City. “It’s definitely a lot to juggle,” she admits, laughing, “but IE University really taught me how to manage my time.”

For Olivia, working at L’Oréal is about finding a way to balance her entrepreneurial passion with a job she genuinely loves. And if you’re wondering whether she has any advice for students? “Say yes to every opportunity. Even if it feels scary, that’s how you grow.”

We couldn’t agree more.
