Next-generation digital media pioneers: inside IE University’s market-driven communication program

What is the Bachelor in Communication & Digital Media?

Since its founding, the Bachelor in Communications & Digital Media has been turning students into industry experts. IE University launched this program to meet the market demands in the communications industry and works continuously with our industry partners to keep it up-to-date.

The four-year program can be completed entirely in Madrid, or splitting the years between Segovia and Madrid. Additionally, students have the option of completing a semester abroad in the third year. The curriculum equips students with essential communication skills, starting with foundational courses in creative processes, research and media literacy. As students progress, they delve into specialized areas like visual storytelling, corporate communication and digital marketing, while also gaining practical experience through projects, internships and exchange opportunities. 

The program culminates in a capstone project, allowing students to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, preparing them for successful careers in the communication and media industries. Throughout this time, the career services team works closely with students, offering personalized guidance and assorted networking opportunities. 

Another element that makes the IE Experience unique is the countless opportunities for extracurricular enrichment and network building. Creative activities such as the IE Short Film Festival give media students an outlet to gain hands-on experience and express their creativity.

Sofía was born in Munich and raised in A Coruña. She speaks Spanish, English and intermediate-level German.

Sofía completed her primary and secondary education at the international and bilingual Obradoiro School in A Coruña. In 2012, she moved to Madrid to begin her dual degree in marketing and advertising at CEU San Pablo University, participating in an exchange program at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich during her third year.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Sofía went on to pursue the Master in Management at IE Business School, where she also joined the IE Luxury Club and IE Marketing Club. Following graduation, she began working at Avon Cosmetics in the Digital Marketing department before taking on a new role as an Assistant Retail Project Manager at Sephora.

Today, Sofía is proud to be working as part of the IE University family as a Marketing Specialist.
