Gonzalo Sánchez-Arjona is a second-year BBA student who has been selected to intern at MdF Family Partners. We had the chance to sit down with Gonzalo to learn more about his IEU success story.

How did you find out about this job opportunity?

I found it via the IE Career Portal. I had been looking for an internship for two months and had sent my CV to more than 15 companies. MdF Family Partners stood out because the position was focused on investment funds, which was perfect for me.

How did the CMC and your IE experience help you during the recruiting process?

CMC helped me a lot. Firstly, they helped me create a competitive CV that will impress potential employers. They had no problem revising my CV three times before they told me it was ready to go. After that, I went to their offices regularly to find out about new job opportunities. I wasn’t overly optimistic after two months of not hearing anything. Eventually MdF Family Partners got back to me, and CMC helped me prepare for my interview.

Tell us about the recruitment process.

It was a very quick process. I did an interview with the office manager and two people from the investment funds division. They asked me about my knowledge of this area of business, my preferences, why I should be offered this position, and so on. I went into the interview very prepared, and I did really well. I showed them that I have a real passion for investment funds. I moved on to the second round, and after one week I had an interview with three partners. The same day, they told me I was in.

Would you want to share any tips or pieces of advice with current students interested in applying to MdF Family Partners?

From my point of view, it’s essential to know the company. You should prepare a few key points related to what the company does, and have interesting questions to ask. The more they talk, the better! I didn’t find the interview difficult because I prepared by reading extensively on the position. MdF wants hard-working people with the ability to multitask, and are passionate about the company and the position they hold.
