Learn how to become a game-changer

Fondo logo E
Great leaders don’t accept the status quo—they’re game-changers. A game-changer isn’t someone who takes a backseat and lets others make an impact. To be a game-changer, you have to be willing to shake things up and take risks in order to achieve your goals and have success in any business venture.

Currently, we are living in a dynamic world in which the rules of the business game are constantly changing as a result of globalization and increasing competition. How do today’s leaders find success? By questioning the traditional rules of the game.

As a university that celebrates entrepreneurship and innovation, it is our goal to help our students push themselves both academically and professionally to become game-changers by envisioning ideas that aren’t so evident to their peers and finding that “transformational magic” that takes their ordinary business and makes it exceptional.

Even while beginning your academic career at IE University, you can still be a game-changer and learn to hone the necessary skills needed to be a revolutionary leader. That’s why we’ve put a list together of three essential characteristics needed to be a game-changer and how you can acquire these skills during your time at IE University.

Be Relentless

Leaders are not just dreamers, they are doers. People don’t have an ah-ha moment and suddenly see what others don’t. In order to become a successful business player, you have to be persistent and committed. You have to understand that potential has little value if it goes untapped. By putting yourself out there and constantly educating yourself, you can make your dreams a reality.

While studying at IE University, you will have endless opportunities to take advantage of the resources we have to offer. Whether it’s our outstanding networking and alumni connections or our numerous events that invite leading experts on business, law, and politics to campus, you will have the chance to learn from your role models and build upon their knowledge.

Be Original

Although they may be able to learn from other professionals and their peers, no game-changer is going to follow exactly in the footsteps of those that have come before them. To stand out from the rest of your competition, you can’t copy, but rather, you have to create. You have to change the game.

An entrepreneurial spirit is at the heart of our institution and we offer students many ways to start their own businesses and projects throughout their time on campus. Our business and management classes paired with our focus on the Humanities alongside our diverse study body, allows our students to view the world with a new outlook. Furthermore, we give students the chance to take these perspectives and implement them in entrepreneurial endeavors through programs such as the IE Start-Up Lab and the IE Venture Lab.

Be Assertive

Game-changers are assertive and aware of what will be embraced in the market. Developing a clear purpose that drives you is what defines you as a marketable entrepreneur. However, it is also important to motivate those around you to be inspired and understand your goals as a leader.

At IE University, we encourage our students to put theory to practice and we emphasis the importance of working in groups to create, serve, improve, and inspire. Whether it’s through one of our labs or our business plan challenge, we offer a plentitude of opportunities for our students to inspire their peers and fully understand their potential as future game-changers.
