Students from the IE Law School began their journey in the Law Without Walls (LWOW) competition in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
The KickOff event took place in the University of St. Gallen, where students from 28 top law and business schools worldwide gathered for the weekend of January 13th and 14th. They met their team members and, after some team building and idea generation activities, prepared themselves for the following four months of competition.
LWOW is a venture lab that seeks to generate ideas and solutions for current and future challenges concerning business, law and technology. In this way, a culture of creativity and innovation is fostered, providing an opportunity for students to learn in a multidisciplinary environment while also developing problem-solving skills.
The event brought together international students from the world’s top universities, who were then sorted into groups, made up of a mix from the different institutions. Lawyers, venture capitalists, renowned academics, entrepreneurs and business professionals were assigned as mentors for each team. Together, they participated in a mini-hackathon, applying previously-learned idea generation, prototyping and presenting skills in order to provide solutions that could improve legal education.
Our students, Aïda Mekouar and Pedro Gil attended the KickOff event, and shared their experience with us in an interview. Click here to learn more about their experience at LWOW.
Aïda will be participating in the LWOW original version, and Pedro will take part in LWOW X, the online version. Over the next few months, students will meet with their teams online to develop innovative solutions to the problems posed by their topics. They will present these ideas in their “Project of Worth” at the “ConPosium” in April at the University of Miami.
The LWOW KickOff at IEU in 2016
A few years ago, IE University hosted the LWOW KickOff event, which brought together 50 students from 30 different international universities, and over 190 professionals from different industries. The event was a prime example of the international mindset that characterizes IE, as well as the innovative, collaborative spirit that goes along with it.
