In an unprecedented and challenging time, the resilience, positivity and innovative thinking of the entire IE Community has endured. IE Talent & Careers is proud to present the Class of 2020 Career Report, which demonstrates the outstanding talent of our alumni, faculty and staff, and the high value placed on IE University graduates by potential employers.
Our unique Liquid Learning methodology has allowed for dynamic learning to continue uninterrupted—even for those students who were unable to attend classes in person. Cutting-edge technology, a uniquely diverse and entrepreneurial ecosystem, and a world-class faculty come together to ensure our graduates enter the job market equipped for modern challenges and attractive to potential employers.
Opening professional doors
The 2020 Career Report’s facts and figures speak for themselves. Six months after graduating, 95% of the 2020 job seekers reported that they had found a job. The international recognition of IE University’s standards and methodology, combined with our collaboration with prestigious companies and institutions, help our students launch their careers in the sector, and with the employer, of their choosing.
Over 250 companies recruited at least one IE University graduate from the Class of 2020. Our alumni are working in every conceivable sector, from Financial Services to Architecture, Media, Healthcare, Law and the public sector. And they’re spread across the globe, taking their first professional steps in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East and Africa.
Sought-after positions at world-leading companies are being filled by IE University graduates. Ignacio Arenós, alum of the Bachelor in Information Systems Management, is now a Business Analyst at Amazon. Ignacio said of his program, “These skills have given me the opportunity to follow my professional goals and succeed in finding a job at a tech firm.” Companies that have hired IE University graduates include Ernst & Young, McKinsey & Company, Telefonica, KPMG, Deloitte, Procter & Gamble, Endesa, Santander, L’Oreal, Accenture and a host of others.
Renowned worldwide
IE University continues to be recognized as a leading global educational institution. For candidates looking to choose their university with an eye on their future professional life, the 2020 Career Report has some very revealing statistics. In their Global Employability Ranking for 2020, Times Higher Education named IE University as number one in Spain, tenth in Europe and 25th worldwide. Youth Incorporated, meanwhile, ranked us fourth worldwide for recruiter satisfaction in their Global University Rankings for 2021.
Entrepreneurial spirit making a difference
The 2020 Career Report highlights the entrepreneurial spirit that’s at the heart of IE University’s core values. We encourage alumni to forge their own paths and make a positive impact on society. And they’re doing so across a wide range of industries, with 5% of 2020’s graduates joining or launching a startup. One of them, Bachelor in Information Systems Management alum Samuel Bailez, says that “IE University is the perfect sandbox for anyone who wants to start something.” Samuel also highlights the assistance offered by the Talent & Careers department, the University’s professional development service for both students and alumni. With top-quality tools, unmatched networking opportunities, training and support, Talent & Careers helps many of our students take their first steps on their professional journey.
Staying in touch
The Class of 2020 Career Report also includes some inspiring stories from alumni. As well as an excellent way of staying in touch with members of the IE Community, the Your Own Path series of videos show the lives of some of our network of over 60,000 alumni across the world.
Alejandro Sáez, entrepreneur and graduate of the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Laws, uses what he learned both inside and outside the classroom in his own business. Alejandro, founder of leading eSports platform eGoGames, says IE University “… has impacted me in a really positive way in terms of thinking of ideas from scratch. And that’s something that I’ve actually developed during my career.”
Just like Alejandro, the Class of 2020 entered the job market with cutting-edge skills, enhanced employability, ongoing support from the IE Community and a jump start on their competition. We look forward to keeping track of their professional trajectories.
