Study in Spain: Tapas Bars for everyone in Segovia

Fondo logo E
Although Segovia is known for it’s cochinillo, any place in Spain is not without its tapas.

Although this city is known for it’s cochinillo, like any city in Spain, Segovia would be nothing without its tapas! If you study in Segovia, you’ll quickly discover an array of tapas bars to satisfy your inner foodie. We found something for everyone, from the budget-conscious to the culinary thrill-seekers.

El Sitio

Perhaps the most popular tapas bar, El Sitio is located in Segovia’s famous bar street that leads to the Plaza Mayor. If you’re looking to get the best value for your money, this is the place for you! True to the tapas custom, you’ll get a free tapa with every drink you order. Unlike the majority of tapas bars, at El Sitio you get to pick your free tapa. They offer large portions, and plenty of extra nibbles to choose from if you’re looking for something more substantial.

The patatas bravas and croquetas are not to be missed, but we also recommend trying the calamares and chicharrónes.

La Taberna del Fogon Safardi

Tapas enthusiasts can’t miss La Taberna del Fogón Safardí, located in Segovia’s charming Jewish Quarter. Both a bar and a restaurant, we recommend that you actually sit down for a meal and try their award-winning tapas.

Since 2007, La Taberna del Fogón Safardí has won Segovia’s annual tapas competition for the best tapa almost every year. All of their winning dishes are now included on their menu in portions that are large enough to satisfy any empty stomach. We recommend that you try the winning dishes from 2007, 2010, and 2011.

Duque

If you’re looking for a fancy night out on the town, Duque in the Plaza Mayor is a great option. Located right in the heart of the city, Duque offers larger tapas portions, ideal for sharing with a group.

Duque adds quality and style to every dish. You can find some delicious, less traditional tapas, like the burrata or the goat cheese tostadas.
