What type of game designer will I be?

Game design is a very broad field. That’s why this degree allows students to tailor their studies to match their passions and career goals. Specializations include:

  • Game mechanics: In this area, students learn the art of balancing challenges and rewards in games, mastering the core systems that keep players engaged. Students will learn to balance complexity and accessibility, gaining the skills to produce games that are both challenging and enjoyable.
  • Level design: With a focus on spatial design, player progression, and environmental storytelling, this area teaches students how to create navigable worlds that players can explore seamlessly.
  • Digital storytelling: In this specialization, students explore the narrative side of game design by creating compelling stories that respond to player decisions and shape the overall experience.
  • UX design: Here, the emphasis is on the player’s perspective and game interaction. This specialization is about interface design: making sure games are not only engaging but intuitive and accessible for all.

These specializations are further supported by a core curriculum that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of design, programming, and creative development.
